Authorities are in the midst of investigating an accident between a school bus and a sedan. Reportedly, a Connecticut teacher was killed in the fatal accident in the early morning hour commute. As part of the investigation, authorities checked the bus for mechanical defects, but the investigation has revealed that no issues were present.
The Connecticut car accident happened on a Tuesday morning. According to reports, the collision occurred when the teacher was traveling in the eastbound direction. A school bus headed to Conard High School suddenly collided with her sedan on the driver’s side. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and determined that none of the students on the bus or the bus driver were injured. However, the teacher was transported to the hospital where she later died.
Authorities are working to determine if the sun glare may have contributed to the crash. In addition, authorities are reviewing the traffic light cycle and performing an inspection of the teacher’s vehicle. So far, the investigation has revealed that there were no mechanical issues with the school bus at the time of the crash.
Contingent upon the outcome of this continuing investigation, the school bus driver may be held liable for the fatal accident. If authorities place liability on the bus driver, the surviving family members of the deceased teacher may wish to pursue a wrongful death claim against the bus driver and any separate owner of the bus. The civil court system in Connecticut may award much needed monetary compensation if evidence deems the bus driver responsible for the incident. By contacting a Waterbury injury lawyer, those victims involved in the incident may be able to learn more about their legal options.
