Motor Vehicle Collision / Serious Orthopedic Injury

A Connecticut woman suffered a serious lower-extremity injury when another vehicle entered her path at an intersection and caused a significant collision after failing to yield the right of way. Her injuries required emergency surgery, hospitalization, inpatient rehabilitation, home healthcare, and months of physical therapy.

D’Amico Pettinicchi developed evidence concerning the severity of the injury, the client’s extended recovery, permanent impairment, future medical needs, and the lasting effect the collision had on her mobility and everyday life activities.

As the case approached trial, the firm conducted focus-group presentations to hone the presentation to a jury. D’Amico Pettinicchi ultimately secured a $900,000 settlement shortly before trial.

The firm also negotiated a reduction of the client’s health insurance reimbursement claim, helping preserve more of the settlement for the client.
