Jeremy’s passion is trying cases. Since law school and continuing through today, Jeremy consistently hones his trial advocacy skills. He is a graduate of the month-long invitation-only Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College.

About

Jeremy has successfully represented at trial and in reaching a resolution many people who have been devastated by injury because of the carelessness of another. At the age of 30, he tried a case along with his Dad and delivered a closing argument obtaining one of the largest personal injury jury verdicts ever rendered in the state of Connecticut: $23 million for a boy with autism who was injured in a school bus crash.

He has published articles focused on issues arising in personal injury litigation, civil procedure, and medical malpractice. He has also drafted legislation to protect the rights of people harmed through carelessness. He is actively involved in the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and guest-lectures a semester-long trial skills course at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Legal Career

Jeremy is a licensed attorney in Connecticut and Florida. He is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Connecticut Bar Association. He served on the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association Committee on Autonomous Vehicle Technology. He is a co-chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and a member of the General Tort Committee.

He has been recognized as a Rising Star in Personal Injury by Connecticut Super Lawyer in 2020 and was included on the Ones to Watch 2021 — Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice by U.S. News. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers Ones to Watch in America, 2024 for Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice and Best Lawyers Ones to Watch in New England.

Education

Jeremy graduated from the University of Miami School of Law with summa cum laude honors. While at the University of Miami School of Law, Jeremy served as President of the Mock Trial Team and as an Article & Comments editor for the University of Miami Law Review. He earned membership to the Charles C. Papy Moot Court Board for Appellate Advocacy, and his article entitled “Cellphones, Stingrays, and Searches! An Inquiry into the Legality of Cellular Location Information” is published in the University of Miami Law Review, 70 U. Miami L. Rev. 1215 (2016).

While there, he received awards for achieving the highest grade of his peers in each of the following courses (the CALI award): Civil Procedure I, Civil Procedure II, Advanced Appellate Advocacy, Administrative Law, and Bankruptcy. The CALI Excellence for the Future Award® is given to the highest-scoring student in each law school class. Jeremy was awarded the University of Miami’s highest honor by selection into the Iron Arrow Honor Society. Jeremy was also selected for membership in the University of Miami School of Law Chapter of the Order of Barristers in 2016.

Jeremy completed externships with the Honorable Jose E. Martinez of the United States District for the Southern District of Miami, the Waterbury Public Defenders Office, and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office before joining his father, Michael D’Amico, at D’Amico & Pettinicchi, LLC.
