Dental Malpractice
A 64-year-old woman suffered serious complications following extensive dental implant and restorative treatment. Instead of restoring her dental function, the treatment resulted in years of chronic pain, difficulty chewing and speaking, problems with her bite, TMJ symptoms, headaches, and significant loss of supporting jawbone.
Correcting the failed treatment required extensive additional care, including implant removal, bone and gum grafting, and reconstruction of the dental work.
D’Amico Pettinicchi pursued claims involving multiple providers and developed expert evidence addressing treatment planning, implant placement, restorative care, causation, and the extensive corrective treatment the client required. The case also involved substantial discovery, disputed responsibility among the parties, and complex insurance and collectability issues.
As trial approached, the firm continued developing the case through expert testimony and focus groups. We ultimately secured a $700,000 settlement shortly before jury selection, providing compensation for the client’s corrective treatment, pain and suffering, functional limitations, and the lasting impact of the failed dental care on her life.
