Bicycle Collision / Personal Injury
A 63-year-old woman suffered severe and substantial injuries when riding her bicycle when she struck the side of a truck and trailer backing out of a private driveway into the roadway. The collision caused multiple traumatic injuries, including significant orthopedic injuries requiring extensive medical treatment and resulting in permanent limitations.
The issue of liability needed investigation. Obtaining police body cam audio from the scene along with police photographs were essential in getting important information concerning how the accident happened and where impact occurred. The plaintiff had sustained a concussion and memory loss and had difficulty remembering details about the crash.
D’Amico Pettinicchi conducted an extensive review of her medical records, developed a detailed chronology of her treatment and recovery, and worked with treating providers and experts to demonstrate how her health and functional abilities changed following the collision.
The case also involved substantial discovery, medical-causation analysis, depositions, and evaluation of the client’s future medical needs and long-term damages.
D’Amico Pettinicchi ultimately secured a $1 million settlement, which was the limits of insurance coverage for the responsible party.
