New England Super Lawyers 2008

MICHAEL D’AMICO HAS ALWAYS LOVED A GOOD MYSTERY. From the time he was in grade school, he was intrigued by the search for truth.

“I’ve always wanted to discover the facts behind a case,” he says, a passion fueled by the detective stories he read as a child. “That’s how I learned to love the law. As an attorney, I find pleasure in searching for the truth and I get the satisfaction of helping my clients put their lives back together in the process.”

D’Amico concentrates his practice in personal injury, medical malpractice and nursing home negligence. His outstanding work has earned him a Super Lawyers® listing for four consecutive years. He is a partner in D’Amico, Griffin and Pettinicchi, LLC, located in Watertown, Conn.

SPECIALIZING IN PEOPLE
“We are a small, boutique specialty firm,” D’Amico explains. “Our goal is to serve the people we represent personally. We work with our clients typically over the course of two to five years and we become their friends.” Because the firm works exclusively in personal injury and divorce, clients often arrive feeling traumatized. D’Amico and his partners believe they have professional and personal responsibilities to those they serve.

“Mark Griffin, Thomas Pettinicchi and I care deeply about the people we represent, and we take our caring seriously,” he says. “We base our decisions on both our legal judgments and on what’s best for our clients’ lives.”

THERE WHEN THE LAW FAILS
D’Amico takes particular pride in helping clients who have not been well protected by existing law. Many of his cases involve tragedies that could have been prevented.

“For example, when medical licensing or continuing education requirements are not strict enough and I can spur better legislation, then my clients feel that they or their loved ones have not suffered in vain,” he says.
